Next Artbar Tuesday 15th September, Tom Trevor, Artistic Director Dojima Biennale, Japan (and former Director of Arnolfini) discusses his work as a curator of international projects.

Tom Trevor, Artistic Director of the current 4th Dojima River Biennale in Japan talks about this in the context of his work as a curator of international projects. Trevor is a curator and writer, based in Bristol. He is currently Artistic Director of the 4th Dojima River Biennale, Take Me To The River, in Osaka, Japan, as well as Guest Curator of Music for Museums at the Whitechapel Gallery, London, and Curator of the 1st ARoS Triennale for Aarhus 2017, European Capital of Culture, in Denmark. Other projects in 2015 include commissions by Do Ho Suh for Bristol Museum and by John Akomfrah for All the World’s Futures at the Venice Biennale. 

Recent exhibitions include Black Sun at the Devi Art Foundation, Delhi, and Joelle Tuerlinckx’ Wo(r)(l)d in Progress? at Arnolfini, Bristol (in collaboration with Wiels, Brussels, and Haus der Kunst, Munich). 

He was formerly Director of Arnolfini (2005-13), Associate Curator of the Art Fund International collection (2007-12) and Director of Spacex (1999-2005), in the UK.

ARTBAR 18th March, Paul McGowan talks about his work and recent collaboration with Warchild...

Next Tuesday evening's Artbar will be fascinating discussion on the subversive work of the artist Paul McGowan...
 
For the past 3 years Paul McGowan has been 100% committed to his Collaboration with War Child UK. Titled 'Trigger Finger' the work draws from the everyday situations the charity is confronted with on the ground. The Exhibition was launched at the Drang Gallery in October 2013. Paul has previously collaborated with Legendary American guitarist Gary Lucas who worked with Captain Beefheart and Jeff Buckley.

In December 2013 along with an impressive assemblage of today’s leading Artists including Inkie, Banksy, My dog Sighs, Elmo Hood, Sheppard Fairy, Nick Walker, and many more. Paul's work was exhibited in the Houses of Parliament in conjunction with a DJ Saved My Life and London West Bank Gallery for Smile Britannia. Paul is currently focused on an Experimental audio Visual experience that will bring people together in a different way and the work will involve the production of two audio albums one of the albums Paul will collaborate with Bath Based DJ & Producer Jamie Tack and will be available in all formats. Ronnie Tee of vision artists will choose who and how the second album is produced and the project is shaping up to be ready for release in time for the festival season 2015.

ARTBAR September: Discussion on William Scott 'Simplicity and Subject'

After the showing of the film 'Every Picture Tells a Story' on William Scott by James Scott at the Victoria Art Gallery, we continued the evening upstairs at The Raven for the inaugural ARTBAR..and so started a fascinating evening with Professor Mike Tooby and the Curator of the Victoria Art Gallery, Jon Bennington,  discussing their current exhibition at Victoria Art Gallery William Scott 'Simplicity and Subject' with and special guest, Robert Scott, with contributions from the artist John Eaves and questions with much discussion form the audience, a special evening...
